Console table - Glass, Gilt wood

Important Antique Console in Louis XV Style with Mirror, Finely Carved and Gilded, Marble Top

Impressive antique console with mirror in Louis XV style, attributable to late 19th-century decorative taste, featuring a rich wooden structure finely carved and gilded, enhanced by a splendid marble top shaped with delicate pinkish tones and elegant natural veining.

The console presents a substantial front fascia entirely sculpted with elaborate raised-relief ornamental motifs, depicting volutes, scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral compositions, typical of the refined Rococo decorative repertoire. The large central frieze is particularly dramatic, characterized by a rich interweaving of vegetal elements and opposed volutes, executed with notable attention to detail.

The structure rests on four elegant curved legs, richly carved with foliate motifs and relief decorations, ending in refined scroll feet. At the bottom, an important shaped crossbar develops, enriched by elaborate ornamental work and a central carved medallion, which adds further solidity and elegance to the piece.

The marble top features a curved profile with rounded corners and shaped edges, distinguished by its refined color nuances, creating a harmonious contrast with the rich gilding of the underlying structure.

The upper part is completed by a monumental shaped looking-glass, characterized by an elegant three-section composition with mirrored surfaces and frames that are entirely carved and gilded. The upper crest presents a substantial sculptural crowning with volutes, scrolls and floral motifs, while the side ends extend through sinuous decorative lines, adorned with additional raised ornamental elements.

The lower part of the mirror is enriched by an elaborate carved band with volutes and vegetal motifs, creating a perfect stylistic continuity with the console structure.

The monumentality of the proportions, the extraordinary richness of the carvings, the elegance of the gilded surfaces, and the refinement of the marble top confer to this ensemble a particularly prestigious and scenographic character. A piece of furniture with great charm and decorative presence, ideal for reception rooms, grand entrances, historic homes, or classic interiors with a highly sought-after look.
