Description from the seller
Georgian-Antique Cocktail Ring (ca. 1890-1920) - 8k Gold and solid Rock Crystal with Telescopic Adjustable Mechanism - Hand-made (15 g)
Monumental ring of late 19th-century high jewelry, a collector’s piece notable for its 15-gram weight and micromechanical engineering applied to the jewel.
The ring features an asymmetric, hollowed dome-shaped structure, hand-forged in 8k pure gold (333).
Originally, the piece received a protective top coating of a noble metal from the Platinum family (such as Palladium), highly characteristic of jewelry from this period to modulate the shine.
Today, after a deep cleaning, traces of this original noble coating remain unevenly in the joints and recesses of the lattice, creating an attractive bi-color visual contrast with the dark-yellow hue of the base gold.
The setting organically embraces a single, large, whole stone of natural Rock Crystal, cut irregularly in homage to the Rose Cut (three-dimensional) of historic Georgian mourning rings.
The crystal displays an optical adularescence, showing white-blue flashes that dynamically change with natural light.
Its main feature is a telescopic adjustment mechanical system. Through a hidden gear of sliding plates, the band gently adapts to the finger’s anatomy, ensuring comfort despite its bulk. The absence of hallmarks and the variation in its side profiles confirm its artisanal, privately commissioned craftsmanship—a piece of great material solidity and patrimonial value.
8k Gold (tested) with traces of coating from the Platinum/Palladium family
Excellent condition, clean and with the mechanism functioning perfectly.
Shipped by insured registered mail (Correos) with insurance coverage for its value.
