Djoua 001 is an aubrite enstatite achondrite meteorite from the Sahara region, weighing 17.3 g.
Description from the seller
Djoua 001 is the name given to the scattered fragments of a meteorite found between February and March 2021 near Illizi, Algeria.
Djoua 001 is an aubrite, an enstatite achondrite meteorite composed mainly of enstatite, which scientifically indicates that it probably formed on a large-dimension asteroid, in the regions near Mercury's orbit.
Aubrites are a unique class of enstatite achondrite meteorites that represent quite extreme formation conditions in the primitive solar system. Aubrites are almost all composed of white enstatite breccias, with occasional inclusions of olivines, nickel-iron, and troilite, along with impact-melt clasts, as seen in achondrites.
Enstatite is a form of orthopyroxene that forms under igneous conditions and is considered an early stage of mineral formation in the solar system. Enstatite meteorites probably originate on near-Sun enstatite-rich type E asteroids, particularly the near-Earth object 3130-Eger. They have even been observed outside the solar system, around evolved stars and planetary nebulae!
An excellent opportunity to add this marvel of the universe to your collection, with a quality and size worthy of a great collection or museum.
We belong to the leading global associations related to meteorites: GMA (Global Meteorite Association), IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association), and The Meteoritical Society, so all of our meteorites come with a certificate of authenticity and we guarantee all of our meteorites for life.
