Unsigned 18th‑century gravure set of 10 hand‑coloured copper engravings by Johannes Zorn and J. Sepp, dating to 1796, depicting plants and flowers, originating from the United Kingdom and in good condition.
Description from the seller
10 hand-coloured copper engravings come from the first and only Dutch edition of the prestigious botanical work Images of the medicinal plants, published in Amsterdam between 1796 and 1800 by J.C. Sepp and Son. The prints are produced using the original copper plates, imported from Germany, from Johannes Zorns Icones plantarum medicinalium (1779–1784). They are distinguished in particular as the rarer Dutch edition by the refined, hand-coloured inking by the Sepp publishing family.
