MEDSAN - Kiki and Jiji at the Bakery (パン屋のキキとジジ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan places Kiki, the heroine of Kiki's Delivery Service by Studio Ghibli, behind the window of a bakery, late at night. Seated at a small wooden table, in her dark violet dress, with her big red bow in her hair, she folds her hands and looks to the side, with a pensive expression. On the neighboring counter, Jiji, her black cat, stands upright, eyes wide, looking toward us, beside a basket of breads. Behind them, the shelves bear baskets of brioches and loaves, baguettes standing tall, and a display case of petits pains, bathed in an orangey light. Outside, the cobbled alley is bathed in the blue of night: a basket bike leans against the wall, a sign marked with a loaf of bread hangs from its ornate bracket, and a street lamp shines at the end of the street. The midnight blue of the street and the warm orange of the shop share the image, like a quiet vigil waiting for morning.

A warm, nostalgic piece, ideal for bringing a touch of Japanese sweetness to a collector’s or Studio Ghibli fan’s interior.

He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family artists’ workshop, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
