MEDSAN - Kintsugi Game Boy (金継ぎのゲームボーイ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan presents a Nintendo Game Boy, the 1989 handheld console, alone on a midnight blue background. Shown in three-quarter view, it has kept its exact silhouette, and on its pale green screen Tetris pieces still fall toward a nearly complete pile. But its shell is white, covered with scrolls, flowers, clouds and cobalt blue waves, and the cross, the A and B buttons, and the screen frame have taken on a brick red.
A fine network of cracks runs from top to bottom of the console, outlined by broad golden lines that cross the screen and the decor. In the upper right, a few white chips edged in gold spill into the void, as if the object has just split. Its shadow stretches over a dark table, and the cartridge メドサン reads in the bottom right, discreet gray on blue. It shows a childhood toy repaired with the care afforded to precious objects.

A nostalgic and refined piece, ideal for adding a retro touch to a contemporary collector’s interior of video games.

About Medsan / Popsan :
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of one and the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the universe of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates within Atelier Joconde, a family-run artists’ studio, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
