In this square format, Medsan makes the One Ring of the Lord of the Rings float above the lands of Mordor. Tilted, it shines with a blazing orange-gold, and the elvish inscription running across its surface lights up in letters of fire. On the left, Barad-dûr’s tower raises its black spires on a rocky ledge, and at its summit the Eye of Sauron opens, red and aflame. On the right, Mount Doom erupts: lava pours down its slopes in orange veins, and a plume of smoke and black ashes rises into the sky. Embers fly toward the Ring. Below, a gray plain is crossed by rivers of lava, and distant ruins with broken arches silhouette to the right. The sky remains pale, almost white, allowing the black, ash-gray, and incandescent orange to dominate the scene. At the bottom right, the cartouche メドサン. Everything seems to wait for the Ring to fall back into the fire.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He works at Atelier Joconde, a family art studio, alongside the artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
