MEDSAN - Son Goku Summer Drive (孫悟空の夏のドライブ) - UNIQUE WORK

THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

On this square format, Medsan places Son Goku, the hero of Dragon Ball, at the wheel of a white Toyota 2000GT, stopped along a coastal road on a summer afternoon. Leaning on the door, in orange gi marked with the kanji 亀 and blue wrists, he turns his head toward the diner with a small smile, as if he had just spotted someone there. Behind him, the white-and-blue façade of the Blue Moon Diner displays its large blue letters, a vertical sign bears the kanji 夏, “summer,” and a red neon “OPEN” glows in the window. Beyond the palm trees, the deep blue bay sparkles, a sailboat glides past a white city, and Mount Fuji, snow-capped, rises before a huge red sun. On the right, a sign reads 海へ, “toward the sea,” and the shadows of the palm fronds stain the foreground asphalt. The cobalt blue, white, and bright red divide the scene, which tastes like a pause before hitting the road again.

A luminous, summery piece, ideal for adding a touch of Japanese nostalgia to a collector’s interior or to a Dragon Ball fan’s space.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the worlds of medicine and anatomy; under Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at Atelier Joconde, a family workshop of artists, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
