The life story of Louis de Bourbon, Prince of Condé, is the tale of a key figure in French history in the 16th century. Louis de Bourbon, born May 7, 1530 in Vendôme and died March 13, 1569 in Jarnac, was a member of the French royal family and one of the central figures of the Wars of Religion that shook the country at that time. Louis de Bourbon was a prince of the blood, direct descendant of the kings of France. He was the first Prince of Condé and the head of the cadet branch of the House of Bourbon. He is often regarded as the founder of the Condé dynasty. Condé distinguished himself on the battlefields as a Protestant military leader during the Wars of Religion. He was one of the main Huguenot leaders and was known for his bravery and tactical skill. He took part in many important battles, notably at Jarnac in 1569, where he met his end.
The life story of Louis de Bourbon, Prince of Condé, is therefore closely tied to the religious and political conflicts of the era. His participation in the Wars of Religion had a significant impact on French history and helped shape the events that followed.
Leather binding of the period, title piece, format "17 x 10 cm", headbands, lamp sills, gilt-decorated spine, red edges, damp stains, spine restored, vignette on title pages, initials, a very fine, rare 17th-century copy complete in 2/2 volumes (see attached photos).
