Description from the seller

Pair of large traditional Amazigh earrings – Aurès, Algeria – Unknown silver hallmark

Remarkable antique pair of large traditional earrings attributed to the Aurès region in Algeria, representative of the Chaouia Amazigh jewelry tradition.

The pair features very fine artisanal work: large dome-shaped plaques richly adorned with filigree, granulation, and applied motifs, accompanied by numerous articulated pendants and small spherical elements.

The richness of the decoration and the movement created by the many pendants are characteristic of the imposing traditional female jewelry of North Africa and, more specifically, the Aurès.

This type of jewelry can be linked to the large Aurès parures known by the names timcherreft / m’charef.

Characteristics

* Origin attributed: Aurès, Algeria
* Tradition: Amazigh / Chaoui
* Estimated period: first half of the 20th century
* Traditional handcrafted fabrication
* Decoration: filigree, granulation and numerous movable pendants
* Total weight: 74 g
* Length: about 11–12 cm
* Width of the main part: about 4 cm

The two earrings retain a beautiful antique patina, which highlights the relief and finesse of the metalwork.

They are deliberately presented without cleaning or polishing in order to preserve their antique appearance and visual authenticity.

A very beautiful collectible pair, particularly decorative, bearing witness to the traditional know-how of Aurès jewelers.

The detailed photographs allow appreciation of the manufacture, dimensions, and patina of the pair.
