Mauro Falcioni was born in Matelica in 1978, and has always been an artist of visual arts and illustration. He trained in graphics for the web without ever abandoning his true vocation: freehand drawing and painting. His stylistic registers range from fantasy to more figurative representations, until he found in the surrealist key the most effective solutions to express his view of the world. It is under this sign that his style matures over the years, transferring the marks of his pencils from paper to canvas and giving his works a recognizable grammar, made of recurring figures and scenes steeped in meaning. His poetics: the dream and the lived moment take shape through the traversal of memory as well as through the creative act which, by the language used, draws a distinction between the work and the subject. This gap ends up being the constitutive matter of the subject itself. The author represents this irreparable and at the same time essential discrepancy by using psychoanalytic references inherent to the Jungian tradition. The cat guides, inseparably bound to man like a kite to a child, because images of different selves, point back to the concept of the Shadow, the darkest part of us that we are forced to domesticate as we approach reality. Every other relation is present as lack or as a hint aimed at formalizing it: delving into the self, the author compels us to confront loneliness-melancholy as an existential condition of man, his peculiarity of “falling out of the world.”
