Character of the work
Where Silence Glows presents an incredibly tranquil, almost fairy-tale landscape, where a solitary, sprawling tree rises from a rocky shore and leans its branches over the still surface of the water. Behind its silhouette appears a huge, golden moon, whose light illuminates the horizon and creates a long, glittering reflection on the lake’s surface. The entire scene gives the impression of a place existing outside everyday life—timeless, motionless, and devoid of human presence. It is a space of silence, contemplation, and almost complete isolation.

The central element of the composition is the tree. Its heavily branched, irregular crown occupies a large portion of the sky, forming a natural contrast to the enormous, nearly perfectly round lunar disk. The dark trunk and branches clearly stand out against the golden light, while delicate reflections on its surface ensure the tree is not entirely shrouded in darkness. It almost seems as if the tree itself absorbs part of the moonlight.

The Moon becomes the second most important focal point of the composition. Its monumental presence lends the landscape an almost cosmic character.
