“Santa Lucia – Light of Faith” is a work of intense spirituality dedicated to Saint Lucia, one of the most recognizable and loved figures of Christian tradition, a symbol of light, purity, courage, and fidelity to the faith.

The Saint is depicted at the center of the composition with an absorbed expression and a gaze turned upward, as if immersed in a dimension of prayer and contemplation. Her head, delicately covered by a veil and surrounded by a luminous halo, emphasizes the sacred nature of the scene, while the composed and serene posture communicates inner firmness and total trust in the divine.

In her right hand Saint Lucia holds the palm of martyrdom, a traditional symbol of spiritual victory and of fidelity to Christ maintained even unto sacrifice. In the other hand she supports a plate on which two eyes are depicted, an iconographic attribute that immediately identifies the Saint and recalls popular devotion that regards her as the protector of sight. These elements transform the portrait into a devotional representation rich in meaning, in which light assumes a value that is both physical and spiritual.

The composition is set within a gathered and elegant architectural space. Behind the Saint appear columns, arches, and a sacred figurine embedded in the wall, while a vase of lilies evokes purity and innocence. The lateral opening toward the landscape and the small flame introduce further allusions to light, creating a subtle dialogue between the earthly world and the transcendent dimension.

Realized in a refined grayscale palette with deep sepia reflections, the work impresses with the richness of the drawing and the rendering reminiscent of an ancient devotional engraving. The contrast between the illuminated areas of the face and the halo and the deep shadows of the surrounding environment focuses the gaze on Saint Lucia, conferring upon her a solemn, intense, and timeless presence.
