AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Atmospheric impressionist cityscape by the Dutch painter Jan Knikker Jr. (1911–1990), executed in oil on canvas.
The painting depicts a picturesque Dutch waterway with anchored ships, a characteristic multi-arched bridge, historic façades and a monumental church tower. On the quay, small figures are visible, lending the scene a lively and authentic atmosphere.
The artist combines warm ocher, brown and red tones with soft blue-gray skies and subtle reflections on the water. The loose brushwork, visible texture of the paint and the atmospheric lighting give the composition depth and a distinctive nostalgic charm.

The work is fitted with a richly decorated gilded ornament frame, which beautifully accentuates the painting’s classical character.
A characterful artwork for lovers of Dutch impressionism and traditional Dutch painting.
