Louis Roederer Cristal 2015 Champagne Brut, 0.75L, in original coffret, from Champagne, France, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay with 30% vinified in oak, aged about 6 years on the lees with a minimum of 8 months rest after disgorgement.
Description from the seller
Appellation: AOC Champagne
Blend: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, with 30% of the wines vinified in oak.
Vintage: 2015
Aging: 6 years of maturation in the cellars on the lees, followed by a minimum of 8 months of rest after disgorgement.
Tasting Notes:
Brilliant in appearance, the wine displays a beautiful golden-yellow hue. The bubbles are lively and exceptionally fine.
The nose reveals a particularly rich aromatic expression. Concentrated aromas of yellow fruits (white peach and mirabelle plum), hazelnuts, and toasted almonds blend harmoniously. With aeration, the bouquet reveals an ideal balance between the characteristic almond, harvest and sweet pollen notes of Chardonnay and the deliciously fruity, juicy character (red fruits) of Pinot Noir.
Lively and concentrated, the palate opens with a silky texture, revealing aromas of candied citrus fruits and iodine-infused spices. The palate carries its freshness and precision through to a finish where subtle woody and saline notes create a delicious harmony between finesse and concentration.
Interesting Fact:
THE TSAR’S WINE
The most famous wine of the Roederer House was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II. The Emperor asked Louis Roederer to reserve the House’s finest cuvée for him each year, as he was particularly fond of it.
To emphasize its uniqueness, this exceptional champagne was presented in a flat-bottomed crystal bottle. From then on, it would bear the name of this precious material, celebrating its transparency and brilliance.
