Description from the seller
Poker chip box / Poker set, Lucite chips, Dal Negro, 80’s – Italy
Materials: Walnut root wood box, lucite chips
Period: 1980s
Origin: Private collection
Dimensions: 13 x 47 x 23 cm.
Total number of chips: 971
Elegant vintage poker or gaming chip box, with lucite chips, Italian-made, probably from the Dal Negro house in the 1980s.
The beautiful chip box is made of walnut root with a varnished finish and beveled edges. The contents are divided into two removable levels with different color, shape, and value chips. These chips are made of lucite, a high-quality acrylic known for its shine, translucency, and resilience. For Italian sets from luxury brands like Dal Negro and French firms of the era, these acrylic chips with a pearl-type finish or a very distinctive translucent gloss were commonly produced, as in this case.
The storage system is organized horizontally into two levels of trays with removable handles through individual slots or rails.
The upper level stores five columns in electric blue color with value 100 (a total of 288 chips) and five columns of burgundy/grape-colored chips with value 500 (a total of 284 chips). The diameter of these chips is 3.3 cm.
The lower level collects 3 rows or columns of orange-red nacre chips of 4 cm diameter and value of 1,000 (with a total of 173 chips). Two other columns of chips in gray tone, value 5,000 (with a total of 115). Finally, two columns of rectangular-shaped chips. The first, pale blue nacre, value 10,000 (56 chips) and 6×3 cm. The second and last, green nacre, value 50,000 and dimensions 7×4 cm. (55 chips).
The circular chips are the standard ones for lower and mid values, while the rectangular ones, known as plaques, are reserved for high sums and are used in high-stakes tournaments, adding tension to the game. There is no universal system that determines the color value of each chip. It can vary by country, by game manufacturer, or by the game itself.
It is a perfect game for a glamorous evening at home, an occasion to enjoy the latest cocktail or a good bottle of champagne. It becomes an excellent gift for any board game enthusiast!
Product shipping will be paid by the buyer according to dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include professional, custom-made packaging; and personalized shipping, with tracking number and warranty."
