Willem Korteling (1889-1964) Winterlandschap, a framed original work in pastel and crayon from the Netherlands, in Impressionism, signed, with a 50 x 42 cm artwork and 55 x 46 cm frame.
Description from the seller
Winter landscape, probably in the surroundings of Diepenveen.
Frame size 55 x 46 cm
Artwork size 50 x 42 cm
Patriarch Gerhard Korteling started a painting business on Smedenstraat in 1839. His son Bartus Korteling was for decades an inspiring drawing teacher, among others at the Deventer Drawing Academy. His son Willem Korteling, the third generation, was the first artist-painter who could live from his independent work. The story of the Kortelings shows how craft grew into art.
Willem (1889-1964) sketched freely and painted numerous landscapes, still lifes, flowers, and many cows and chickens! Romanticism, Impressionism, the late flowering of the Hague School, all styles.
