Description from the seller

A.Rutgers/ John Gould: The Bird Paradise in Colors (complete series, 1966-1970)

For this series of books, the Dutch ornithologist and author A. Rutgers selected the finest prints (about 800) from the works of John Gould. Rutgers wrote a new species description for each carefully reproduced engraving.
This series, consisting of 10 volumes, appeared between 1966 and 1970 originally in the Netherlands but was later also released in German, English, and French.

The complete Dutch-language series offered here consists of the following parts:
* Birds of Europe 1&2 (based on The Birds of Europe and The Birds of Great Britain)
* Birds of Australia 1&2 (based on The Birds of Australia)
* Birds of Asia 1&2 (based on The Birds of Asia)
* Birds of New Guinea 1&2 (based on The Birds of New Guinea)
* Birds of South America 1&2 (based on A Monograph of the Trochilidae, A Monograph of the Rhamphastidae and A Monograph of the Trogonidae).

The 10 volumes (1,670 pages, 25x19 cm) are all in very good condition, hardly any damage or signs of wear. Some spines are somewhat bleached by the sun (see photos)
Also internally the books are exceptionally fresh and tight, without foxing or loose/missing pages.
See the photos for a good impression of this series.
The 10 books are housed in a handmade slipcase.

1,650 pages with approx. 800 color illustrations. 6.0 kg. 25x19 cm
