Splendid Italian advertising poster “Olio Sasso,” an icon of Liberty graphic design from the early 1900s, characterized by a refined female figure immersed in nature, among olive branches and intense and vibrant colors.
Note: This is a later edition probably from the 1970s.
The work stands out for its extraordinary compositional elegance and for the artistic quality typical of the great Italian illustrative tradition, where the female figure becomes a symbol of purity, nature and the product’s quality. The sinuous line, the chromatic contrasts between the red of the dress and the green of the olive trees, together with the deep blue background, make this poster extremely decorative and refined.
The author is Plinio Nomellini, an important exponent of divisionist painting and a prominent figure in the Italian artistic scene between the 19th and 20th centuries, here in a rare and fascinating advertising rendering.
