Orano Art Deco NOS, Ref. 1581, a 1940s Swiss manual-wind watch with a stainless-steel monobloc case (23 mm), leather strap, and an untouched original dial in NOS condition; it includes the original period strap and tags but no box or papers, and runs on the Swiss calibre 1220.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A truly exceptional 1940s Swiss Orano, preserved in remarkable New Old Stock condition.

This beautiful Art Deco watch is completely original and appears never to have been worn. The original tags are still attached, together with the original period strap — making this a remarkably authentic time capsule from the 1940s.

Particularly rare is the stainless-steel monobloc case. Most watches of this period were fitted with chrome-plated cases, making the stainless-steel version especially interesting to collectors. The beautifully faceted case sides add to its distinctive Art Deco character.

The original dial is exceptionally well preserved, with exactly the untouched appearance one would expect from a genuine NOS example. A slight not very noticeable mark at 9 o clock (the same position of the hour hand for over 80 years has this effect)

The watch has been checked and is running very well. It is powered by the manual-winding Swiss calibre 1220.

Dimensions:
• Case width: 23 mm
• Width including crown: 25.5 mm
• Lug-to-lug: 35 mm

A remarkable and increasingly difficult-to-find piece for the serious vintage watch collector. It is difficult to imagine a more original example of this model.

The watch will be carefully packed and shipped fully insured.
