Description from the seller
Original illustration in a Art Nouveau style, dated 1912, made in blue tones and intended for the cover of the work From Cendrillon to Perrault, a collection of tales illustrated by F. Bory.
The composition depicts a mysterious medieval wooden door, framed by an elegant stone arch inspired by Gothic architecture and surrounded by abundant vegetation. The delicacy of the drawing, the richness of the architectural details, and the harmony of its monochromatic blue tones stand out, creating a romantic, poetic atmosphere evocative of fairy tales.
The work features a carefully decorative typography inspired by medieval design, characteristic of the artistic taste of the early 20th century.
In the lower right corner there is a signature or monogram AB (which is how the artist signed) accompanied by the date 1912.
