Pair of five-light table candelabra in patinated bronze from France, dating to circa 1850–1900, with circular base and baluster shaft, measuring 27 cm high by 24 cm wide and 27 cm deep, in very good antique condition with age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Recommended title: 5-light Louis XVI style table candelabra pair — Patinated bronze — Late 19th century
Description:
Elegant and imposing pair of table candelabra (branch torches) in patinated bronze (or heavy art brass of high quality) from the Napoleonic III era. Each piece features 5 lights, distributed across four sinuous light arms with scrolling foliate decorations and a central elevated flame.
The circular base as well as the bottom of the baluster shaft are adorned with rich chasing of beading and radiating channels, typical of the neoclassical repertoire of the Louis XVI style. The cups (bobeches) located under the fluted sockets imitate the shape of stylized flower corollas.
• Era: Circa 1870-1890 (Late 19th century).
• Material: Patinated bronze / heavy art brass.
• Condition: Very good antique condition. The structures are perfectly solid, with no deformation in the arms. The piece overall displays a superb uniform antique patina "as is," with traces of natural green patina and light wax residues in the recesses of the chasing, attesting to their authenticity.
