Description from the seller
Collection & Design
This object belongs to the Villencourt line from Val Saint Lambert, produced during the 60s and 70s. The model is known in vintage glass art as a star dish or finger dish due to the characteristic hand-stretched points that rise like fingers.
2. Material & Color Technique
• Solid Crystal: The object is made of heavy lead crystal, which provides a high refraction of light and a clear tone.
• Sommerso technique: A specific color technique was used in which an intense fuchsia/cranberry pink glass core is completely encapsulated in a thick outer layer of clear crystal glass. This gives the object its typical depth and the flowing, transparent edges to the points.
3. Uniqueness
Because each piece from this series at the time was freehand blown and drawn by the master glassblowers of Val Saint Lambert, no dish is exactly identical. The length, curvature and exact spread of the "wings" or "fingers" differ per piece, making each object a unique artwork.
