Biography of Vincenzo Irolli
Irolli Vincenzo (Naples, 1860 - Naples, 1942)

In 1877 he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli, where his teachers were Gioacchino Toma and Maldarelli. In 1878 he produced a portrait of the painter Rafael Izzo, which aroused the curiosity of Domenico Morelli; the following year, at the age of 19, at the XV Mostra della Promotrice Salvator Rosa he showed Felice rimembranza, and with it he won the first prize. After finishing his studies in 1880, he began painting intensely, drawing inspiration from the works of Morelli and Michetti, in a palette rich with intense colors. He created landscapes, scenes of Venice and Naples, scenes of daily life (often set against the backdrop of a market), children, street urchins, women with mischievous attitudes (the mother scenes are also typical), vulgar sensuality and still lifes.
