Description from the seller
Antique English Creamware Reticulated Underplate / Stand – Basketweave & Pierced Design, c. 1790-1820
An exquisite and highly collectible late 18th to early 19th-century English creamware decorative underplate (stand), attributed to or in the distinct style of Wedgwood (Etruria) / Leeds Pottery.
This elegant piece was originally designed as a base/stand for a reticulated chestnut basket or fruit bowl. It features a meticulously molded basketweave texture in the center, enclosed by a finely hand-pierced, openwork reticulated border that beautifully mimics architectural latticework or lace.
The soft, warm cream-colored glaze is characteristic of high-quality period creamware (faience fine), prized by collectors for its lightweight body and neoclassical elegance.
1= 21.5 x 18 cm
2= 26 x 21.5 cm
