AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Armand Rousseau, coming from a family of vignerons, created the Domaine at the beginning of the 20th century with plots of vines he inherited when he came of age in Gevrey Chambertin. In 1945, his son Charles joined him to run the family Domaine. After training as a winemaker at the University of Dijon, he brought his knowledge and continued to develop the Domaine by purchasing new plots. About ten years later, his son Eric, who had just finished his viticulture and oenology studies in Dijon, joined the Domaine. He began to work in the vineyards to put into practice new techniques such as leaf thinning and mechanical tillage without pesticides. His objective is to steer the Domaine toward more ecological viticulture and traditional winemaking with less manipulation. Cyrielle Rousseau, his daughter, joined the team in 2014 after several experiences abroad.

Located in the Côte de Nuit, Domaine Rousseau covers 15.33 ha in the Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru designations on clay-limestone soils. Cyrielle and Eric currently vinify six emblematic Grands Crus: Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Ruchottes Chambertin, Mazy Chambertin, Clos de La Roche and Charmes Chambertin, the vineyard of this lot.

The Pinot Noir variety, well cultivated, is capable of drawing out the best from the different terroirs. It is a fine, elegant grape endowed with an immense aromatic palette, a grape that produces wines of extraordinary quality and great aging potential. This Burgundian Domaine owes its excellent wines to selective and thoughtful viticulture, as well as to masterful winemaking carried to the limit of demand and perfection. Consequently the wines of the property are among the most prestigious in Burgundy... and in the world!

This lot consists of three bottles from Domaine Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin, two from the 2006 vintage and one from the 2008 vintage; The 2006 vintage in Burgundy posed an endless array of challenges for the winemakers, but produced wines of fascinating complexity in the hands of exceptional producers like Rousseau. The famous 2008 Burgundy harvest continues to captivate collectors and investors alike, and the 2008 Charmes-Chambertin from Domaine Armand Rousseau stands as an archetype of delicacy and complexity that perfects the very notion of this esteemed Grand Cru terroir.

The three bottles are perfect to drink now or to continue aging. They have always been stored in a climate-controlled cellar (16°C) with the proper humidity (85%) for the best possible preservation.
