Dugena Super Automatic from the late 1950s to early 1960s, with a 35 mm gold-plated case, powered by the Swiss Dugena calibre 1010A micro-rotor automatic movement (Büren 1001A base) with 25 jewels, 18,000 vph and a ~42-hour power reserve, displaying hours, minutes, central seconds and date on a leather strap in very good condition with an attractively even dial patina.
Description from the seller
If the superb condition of this Dugena Super, with its sharp and well-preserved case, doesn't catch your eye, perhaps its beautiful dial with its evenly aged patina will. And if that still isn't enough, just take a look at the movement!
At the heart of this elegant vintage watch beats the Dugena calibre 1010A, based on the Swiss Buren 1001A micro-rotor movement. Its beautifully finished, gold-toned components and ingenious construction make it a real delight for any mechanical watch enthusiast. It is a shame that such craftsmanship remains hidden from view most of the time!
Introduced in the late 1950s, the micro-rotor was an ingenious alternative to conventional automatic movements. Rather than placing a large winding rotor on top of the movement, the compact rotor is integrated into its structure, allowing for a slimmer profile while preserving the convenience of automatic winding.
The Dugena Super combines this fascinating horological technology with timeless 1960s styling. Its well-preserved case retains crisp lines, while the dial displays an attractive, even patina that adds character without detracting from its overall appeal.
This is a watch for the collector who appreciates more than just a name on the dial: a thoughtfully engineered movement, honest vintage character and understated watchmaking heritage, powered by a Swiss mechanical heart.
A particularly appealing opportunity to own a vintage micro-rotor automatic that deserves to be admired both on the wrist and under the loupe.
