Description from the seller
Working toward nature, with a translation, a simplification. That’s what this drawing is about. A golden-yellow wheat field, simplified. Small, rounded trees on the horizon. Nature always has a rhythm. In the fields, in the trees, in the clouds. In the creeks and rivers, in the song of the birds. It is wondrous. There is a playfulness in it. Finitude and infinity. The rhythm of the seasons, the cycle of life. The simple yet complex, flowing harmony of existence.
Anne-Tjerk Mante (1969) is a Dutch painter and alumnus of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
As a painter, he mainly works with oil paint and acrylic on linen or canvas. When he draws, he likes to use various kinds of markers, colored pencils, and sometimes (oil) pastel chalks. His technique ranges from expressive to surreal accents, driven by a deep fascination with the universe, light and the natural landscape. His works often arise from the inspiration offered by the natural landscape. Yet his work spans from nearly abstract images – characterized by space and calm – to the colorfulness and liveliness of a fair.
Through painting and drawing, he makes a continuous journey of discovery through the (in)visible world. His engaging creations form a quest to capture beauty and wonder.
