Poggi Giuseppe. - Ricevimento del cittadino Trouvé presso la Repubblica Cisalpina. Prima Edizione. - 1798

Poggi Giuseppe. Notes for the solemn reception of citizen Trouvé, the first ambassador of the French Republic to the Cisalpine Republic. Milan, National Typography, (1798). First edition. Original edition of the very rare historical and official ceremonial document of the Piacenza-born scholar and statesman. The work describes in minute detail the rigid protocol of the Cisalpine Republic for receiving with the highest civil and military honors the transalpine diplomat, an event that sealed the political recognition of the newborn Republic by the Napoleonic nation. The work, unwelcome to the House of Austria, was suppressed after Napoleon's fall and Poggi himself had to take refuge in France. Binding in modern hardcover. Title in gold-tooling on the spine. Dimensions 23x17 cm, 98 pages. Excellent condition.
