Description from the seller
French School, in the taste of the 18th century
Galant scene in a wooded landscape
Oil on canvas, signed bottom right.
Elegant gallant scene depicting a couple elegantly dressed, seated in the heart of a wooded and shaded landscape. The young woman, adorned in a gown with ochre and orange hues, holds a book resting on her lap, while her companion turns toward her in an intimate gesture. The composition is distinguished by the contrast between the warm tones of the clothing and the deep shades of green and brown of the vegetation, animated by a soft light that delicately illuminates the figures. The ensemble evokes the spirit of genre gallant painting, inspired by Rococo aesthetics.
Dimensions: 35 × 25 cm.
Technique: oil on canvas.
Signature bottom right, to be identified.
Remark: there is a slight raised area of about 1 cm on the woman's dress, which is visible in the last two photos.
