French pharmacy bottle in white porcelain, cylindrical body and with a raised cap topped by a drop-shaped finial. It features a polychrome and gilded decoration inspired by Egyptian motifs, with two facing sphinxes at the bottom, green-leaved palm trees and purple clusters, and a gilded serpent crowning the central cartouche.
The inscription in black “Ext: Fumariæ” identifies the intended contents of the vessel: extract of fumaria. The wide gilded bands on the upper edge and base, together with the gilded moldings adorning the cap, enhance the contrast with the white porcelain background.
According to the base mark provided, the piece comes from the Acloque house, located at No. 22 Rue de la Barillerie, beside the Palais de Justice in Paris.
