Description from the seller
At first glance, a crumpled TWIX wrapper may seem like an ordinary, insignificant object. Yet, when observed closely, its intricate folds, reflective surfaces, vibrant colours, and subtle imperfections reveal an unexpected beauty.
In this hyper-realistic pastel drawing, I wanted to transform something familiar and disposable into a subject worthy of attention. Through careful observation and meticulous layering of pastel pencils, I explored the interplay of light, texture, and form, capturing every crease and reflection with remarkable precision.
I am André Rios, a Portuguese award-winning artist based in the Netherlands. My work is driven by a fascination with realism and the hidden beauty of everyday objects, particularly those we tend to overlook. I enjoy challenging the boundaries of what can be achieved with pastel pencils, transforming seemingly simple subjects into detailed and visually engaging artworks.
Beyond its technical realism, this piece invites the viewer to reconsider the ordinary. It celebrates the unexpected beauty found in imperfection and the fleeting objects of our daily lives.
For collectors of contemporary realism and hyper-realistic art, this drawing offers a playful yet thoughtful perspective on the familiar, turning a moment of everyday life into something lasting.
