Description from the seller
Lot composed from a reservist beer stein made at the begining of 20th century to commemorate the famous historical infantry regiment of the Royal Württemberg Army, also known by the name of 4th Württemberg. Created from fine porcelain, this 0.5 liter capacity stein is handpainted with a central scene of a mounted horseman, while the side scenes present artillery crews in combat and in movement. The pewter mount is decorated with a coat of arms for its thumb lever, while the top has two small soldier figurines standing near a artilery cannon. The names of fellow reservists or battery members are hand-lettered or transferred down the sides of the handle. Looking through the bottom of the stein against the light reveals a translucent porcelain image (lithophane), showing a fond farewell between a soldier and a loved one. Item is in very good condition, metal parts showing impressive patination, while under its base circumference a very small chip occurred, visible when looking under. Photos are part of description and serve for developing an accurate impression.
Size— Height - 27.5cm (with lid), Base diameter - 11.5cm, Weight - 954g.
