Description from the seller

Unique and original work hand-painted by Raphaël Monnet

Raphaël Monnet develops contemporary abstract painting in which color becomes material, rhythm and movement.

He approaches the canvas as an space of experimentation. The painting is projected, accumulated and confronted with opposing colors. The impacts cross, some areas densify while others allow the background to breathe.

His process does not rely on a pre-prepared image, but on a progressive construction. Each intervention leads to the next until an equilibrium appears between apparent disorder and pictorial organization.

Based in the Léo Varek studio in France, Raphaël Monnet continues his research around projection and superposition of colors. His works possess an immediate presence at a distance and reveal, when you approach, a multitude of details, nuances and unexpected encounters between pigments.

Each canvas results from a unique process. The trajectory of the projections, the distribution of material and the interactions between colors can never be reproduced identically.

Format and presentation

The indicated dimensions correspond to the total size of the canvas. A painted peripheral section is intended to be folded over the sides of the frame, without encroaching on the main composition.

Some images show the work in situ to facilitate its projection into an interior. They are created with the ArtStage presentation software which makes AI mockups. Proportions may vary slightly depending on the staging. Please refer to the dimensions indicated in the description to know the real size of the work.

The edges are partially painted and allow for a clean finish after mounting.

Shipping

The work is shipped rolled in a rigid protective packaging, without a frame or stretcher.

Slight creases may appear upon receipt. This is perfectly normal for a canvas shipped rolled. These marks naturally disappear when it is put under tension.

For optimal results, we recommend having the canvas mounted on a frame by a local framer.

Shipments are made by express carrier — DHL, FedEx or equivalent — with careful tracking until delivery.

Some destinations may incur additional shipping costs beyond my control. In that case, the buyer will be informed before dispatch to adjust costs if necessary. Without approval of these costs, the shipment cannot be made.

Additional information

Colours may vary slightly depending on screen settings and shooting conditions.
Frame and stretcher not included.
