Description from the seller

THE WORK

-Roces (2026). Mixed media on RECYCLED board. 120x80x2 cm.
-Roces represents Sapirrano, a mythological character linked to Puente de Génave, and was conceived as the cover image for the book Roces, by Severiano González, presented in August 2026.

The work is painted on a recycled board from the University, one of the surfaces that for years were used by students in their processes of work. The support itself thus preserves a prior memory that is incorporated into the painting and establishes a dialogue between matter, time and creation.

The figure appears frontally, emerging from a dark space built through layers of paint, drawing and geometric lines. The gaze, intensely open, concentrates the tension of the composition, while blue, white and pink strokes traverse the figure and the background like traces, interferences and structures.

The Sapirrano is not presented as a literal representation of a character, but as a presence: a figure between the human, the symbolic and the imagined. The darkness of the background, the pictorial matter and the geometric constructions generate an ambiguous space in which the identity of the character is revealed and, at the same time, remains hidden.

The work belongs to the pictorial language of Tratados, where figuration, geometry and gesture coexist to build an image that sits between representation and interpretation.
