Description from the seller
Rare Art Nouveau Crystal Decanter Duo circa 1900 – Baccarat / Saint-Louis – Urangrün with Lily-of-the-Valley engraving & registration numbers “20” / “60”
Description:
For sale is an exquisite, museal duo consisting of two antique crystal liqueur decanters from the bloom of French Art Nouveau (c. 1890–1910), unquestionably attributable to the luxury manufactories Baccarat or Saint-Louis.
• Design & play of color: Made from the finest crystal glass in a fantastic, luminous Urangreen (olive to apple green). The wall stands out with a whisper-thin, masterful radial engraving in a naturalistic style, showing delicate lily-of-the-valley branches (Muguet), fine foliage, and stylized stars.
• The stoppers (jewel corks): Made from contrasting, clear crystal glass with geometrically perfectly cut facets that brilliantly refract light.
• Absolute originality guarantee: A rare testament to old craftsmanship! Both the bottle necks and the bottoms of the stoppers bear the identically matched, era-typical hand-engraved pairing numbers “20” and “60.” This proves that the stoppers were ground airtight by factory hand over 110 years ago exclusively for these decanters.
• workmanship: On the underside is a perfectly ground and highly polished, cup-shaped pontil (breakage of the glassblowers’ rod).
• Dimensions ( ** height without stopper): Large decanter: 20 cm / Small decanter: 13 cm.
• Condition: Excellent, pristine antique original condition. The crystal possesses full brilliance, is absolutely clear and free of cracks, chips, flea bites, or clouding. The historic original closures sit perfectly.
A museal and perfectly documented collector’s ensemble of French glass art from the Belle Époque.
