Description from the seller
A benchmark 1985 Vintage Port from Croft, one of the oldest and most famous historic Port houses. Harvested during the legendary, universally declared 1985 vintage, offering magnificent depth, rich dark fruit, and classic elegance.
An exceptional bottle of Vintage Port from the landmark 1985 harvest, crafted by Croft, a historic Port house whose origins trace back to 1588.
The 1985 vintage is universally acclaimed as one of the ultimate classic declarations of the late 20th century. Sourced largely from Croft’s flagship estate, the famous Quinta da Roêda in Pinhão, this wine showcases the estate's signature plush, sweet fruit profile combined with immense structural power built for long-term aging.
Following traditional regulations, this wine was aged for two years in wood before being bottled in 1987. Today, after four decades of undisturbed bottle maturation, it displays a deep ruby-garnet core with warm brick and mahogany edges. The complex, seductive nose opens with aromas of ripe black plum, cassis, dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, leather, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, balanced by mature tannins and leading into a long, luxurious finish.
