Description from the seller

These nine exceptional napkins date from the early 20th century and are notably generous in size—particularly remarkable given the relative scarcity of quality materials at the time.

They were likely intended as a wedding gift for a French bourgeois couple, a tradition in which finely embroidered household linens symbolized both prosperity and domestic refinement.

Each napkin features the initials “R.S.”, beautifully double-embroidered in high relief, standing out distinctly against the plain background. The monogram is further enhanced by a delicate motif of a small bunch of grapes, adding a subtle decorative flourish and perhaps symbolising abundance and hospitality.
They are "hand hemmed"
