Description from the seller

A very beautiful, authentic and iconic sculpture in solid bronze with a dark brown patina, often described as a "medaille" patina, representing a dead sparrow. It is signed in relief "Comoléra" and bears the foundry mark "D Susse Fres MM".

This is a work by the famous French sculptor Paul Comoléra (1813-1890) and the no less famous French founder Susse Frères, renowned for the quality of their bronze casts.

It dates from the 19th century and fully aligns with the Art Nouveau movement of the period.

Very high quality. The patina is intact and superb. It is rare to find the work with a patina as well-preserved.

The fineness of the chiseling is remarkable, as on the legs with their claws, the plumage, the beak, and the eyes of the bird, and it naturally recalls the quality of Viennese bronzes dating from the same era.

Very good condition. Time has nonetheless left its mark on the patina with oxidation traces in places, notably underneath (see photos).

Please carefully observe all the photos, which are an integral part of the description.

Dimensions: 13 x 6 x 3 cm.
Weight: 346 grams.

Attention to collectors and lovers of beautiful objects. The sculpture can serve as a luxury paperweight.

A must-have piece in a collection, a timeless classic. Iconic.

Fast and careful shipping.
