Livia di Ombrafonte - La custode del giudizio, an oil on linen portrait by Roberto Mauro (XX–XXI), Italy, Realism, 40 × 30 cm, 2020+, original edition, signed by hand, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
Livia of Ombrafonte
Livia grew up in a dwelling built near a spring which, according to an ancient legend, allowed one to recognize the truth in others’ words. Trained in reading and bookkeeping, she soon became the most listened-to adviser of her family. The dark pendant she wears around her neck protects a small fragment of glass from the library destroyed by a fire, a symbol of the knowledge that was saved. Her steady, quiet gaze reveals a woman who studies for a long time before delivering her own judgment.
Oil on linen canvas portrait, created in 2026, height 40 cm, width 30 cm
Created by an Italian artist, signed, in a unique edition, in perfect condition
Provided with certificate of authenticity
This work belongs to the series Imaginary Noblewomen, born from a personal study of historical portraiture, chiaroscuro, and the representation of female characters who never existed. Each figure possesses an original identity and story, subsequently interpreted by hand through oil painting.
(The character and the story are works of fantasy, conceived by me as part of the painting’s narrative)
