Splendid Vintage Onyx Natural Stone and Metal Jewelry Box – Italian Mid-Century Craftsmanship (1960s/1970s) – Excellent Condition

Up for auction: an elegant square-tabletop Loderein-type box / jewelry case, an authentic example of artistic craftsmanship and Italian design from the second half of the 20th century.
The item has been entirely handmade starting from a solid block of precious natural onyx, a mineral famous for its translucence and the beauty of its geological layers. This specific specimen stands out for its spectacular lateral veining: the walls show an extraordinary color stratification ranging from milky white to pale green, enriched by warm amber and copper inclusions that make the piece unique and strongly decorative.
Condition:
The piece is in excellent condition (as new). Despite its age, it shows no chipping, micro-cracks, or fiber separation on the stone, nor on the sharp edges or the surface. The metal frame in silver plating is perfectly secure and the rear hinges are structurally flawless, smooth in movement and completely free of oxidation. The interior preserves its original red felt-like lining impeccably clean, touch-smooth, and featuring an elegant molded compartment to securely store rings and small jewels.
A hefty, sturdy piece with great charm, ideal for Mid-Century Modern collectors, collectible boxes, or as a high-decorative interior element.
