Description from the seller
Serge Kirchhofer Mod.401 SK4001 112 – Brown Havana – Designer Sunglasses
Distinctive oversized sunglasses with a sculptural square silhouette, softly rounded lenses and a broad, elevated brow. The cream and brown striations of the Havana acetate are complemented by textured gold decoration at the outer edges.
The manufacturer specifies custom Havana Mazzucchelli acetate, semi-matte 14k gold metal decoration and bronze/gold mirror Zeiss lenses. The gold decoration is a detail of the frame; the sunglasses are not solid gold.
Serge Kirchhofer was created in Vienna around 1961 by eyewear designer Udo Proksch. As a designer and creative director at Optyl, Proksch was closely associated with Carrera and Viennaline. His own Serge Kirchhofer line combined classical elegance with surreal, unconventional forms, treating eyewear as wearable art.
The brand was revived in 2017 with the “Into the Light” collection, inspired by Proksch’s extensive archive of frames and drawings. This pair belongs to the modern revival collection and reflects the brand’s vintage design heritage.
