Le Pont De Mantes is a 1910 oil on canvas landscape by José De Almeida (Portugal), in realist style, 48 × 60 cm, sold with frame, limited edition.
Description from the seller
Reproduction The Pont de Mantes – Oil on canvas signed José de Almeida, dated 1-4-10 – With frame
Charming figurative landscape depicting a river crossed by a stone bridge, lined with tall bare trees and old buildings. A small human figure animates the scene and brings a touch of life to this composition with natural and warm tones.
The work is distinguished by its peaceful atmosphere, its play of perspectives, and the contrast between the brownish-red trunks, the light-colored buildings, and the reflections on the water.
The canvas bears a handwritten signature in the lower part, legible as “José de Almeida,” accompanied by an apparent date “1-4-10.” The artist’s identity and the exact reading of the date remain to be confirmed; no provenance or authentication documentation is currently available.
Technique: oil on canvas, subject to confirmation.
Signature: handwritten inscription at the bottom of the composition.
Date inscribed: indicate “1-4-10.”
Canvas dimensions: about 54 × 43 cm, framed.
Presentation: gilt frame with an antique appearance, showing signs of wear.
The work shows signs of age and use, as well as wear visible on the frame and the paint surface. Detailed photographs allow examination of texture, marks, and defects. The lot is sold in its current condition, with no restoration or cleaning undertaken.
