Magnificent high‑quality crescent display cabinet in Napoleon III style, Canturina High Cabinetmaking, Italy, 1950–1960
Magnificent display cabinet with a crescent shape of superior quality, crafted by the renowned Canturina manufactory, expression of the finest tradition of Brianzola high cabinetmaking of the 20th century. Inspired by the sumptuous taste of Napoleon III, with elegant references to the Louis XVI decorative repertoire, it represents a piece of furniture of exceptional workmanship, designed for ceremonial spaces and prestigious collections.
The structure is adorned with rich decoration in chased bronze and a spectacular upper frieze featuring a sequence of hand‑painted porcelain medallions in the Sevres style, depicting delicate floral motifs. In the center dominates the convex door, decorated with a refined medallion featuring a pastoral gallant scene, framed by gilded applications and finishes of great elegance.
On the sides develop refined curved open shelves, enhanced by pierced bronze railings, while the interior of the central compartment preserves the precious original red‑purple velvet lining, ideal for displaying porcelain, silver, or objets d’art. The lower drawer, made with authentic dovetail joints, testifies to the high level of artisanal craftsmanship.
The slender, fluted, truncated cone legs, enriched with sabots and gilded applications, give lightness and refinement to the whole. A piece of high prestige, crafted with noble materials and extraordinary attention to detail, it stands as a superb example of Canturina quality, capable of combining display function, classical elegance, and rich ornamentation.
