Manufactured in 1930, Brand: Eischrammer & Sohn, Model: Baritone / antique euphonium, Functional condition: tested and working.
Description from the seller
Old brass wind instrument from the famous Swiss manufactory Hirsbrunner, Sumiswald, a historic house specializing in manufacturing high-quality musical instruments for fanfares, orchestras and military ensembles.
This is a large baritone / euphonium, antique, with 3 rotary valves, entirely made of brass, with several silvered metal elements or nickel-silver. The instrument features an antique construction that is particularly interesting, with an exposed rotary valve mechanism, many reinforcements, traditional slides, and a wide front bell.
The maker’s plate is still present and legible, with the inscription Hirsbrunner – Sumiswald, which clearly identifies its Swiss origin.
The instrument is sold with its mouthpiece, its old leather strap, and its lyre for score.
It shows a beautiful natural patina linked to its age, with various signs of use, marks, small oxidations, color variations of the brass, and general wear coherent with an instrument that has actually been used. This patina gives it a lot of character and speaks to its history.
Important note: this instrument is not merely decorative. It is fully functional and still playable. Its former owner used it regularly and had it maintained and serviced. The mechanics operate correctly and the three valves are functional.
The set appears very complete and retains a fine authenticity. The bell has a nice overall appearance despite the signs of time. The various mechanical parts, slides, reinforcements, rings and controls are all in place.
This example is at once:
* a genuine antique musical instrument still usable;
* an interesting piece of Swiss instrument-making history;
* a fine collectible for a connoisseur of antique instruments;
* a striking decorative piece for a collection, a museum, a music room or a historic fanfare.
Manufacture date can probably be located to the first half of the 20th century, subject to a more precise dating by serial number.
The instrument will be sold exactly as shown in the photographs. The photos form an integral part of the description and allow a precise appreciation of its condition, patina, and the various mechanical details.
