Description from the seller
Magnificent vintage automatic watch branded GUB Glashütte (Glashütter Uhrenbetrieb), the historic German manufactory from Saxony, produced in the German Democratic Republic in the 1980s.
Main features:
Brand: GUB Glashütte (Sa.)
Movement: Automatic, 23 jewels, mention "Stossgesichert" (shock-resistant)
Dial: Champagne/ivory aged, applied gold indexes, gold hands
Date function: Date window at 3 o'clock
Case: 20 micron gold plated, stainless steel back ("Edelstahlboden"), water resistant at the time ("Wasserfest")
Diameter: approximately 34 mm (excluding crown)
Bracelet: Black leather (unmarked, to be replaced according to preference)
Crystal: Original domed mineral crystal, a few micro-scratches due to age
General condition:
I note a slight loss of paint on the digit "1" of the date.
The dial shows a natural patina characteristic of watches from this era, with some oxidation traces, not affecting readability. The case shows normal wear for a piece over 60 years old. The automatic movement functions (to be serviced according to the buyer’s wish, no long-term functionality warranty is provided).
A fine example of East German horology from the Glashütte/GUB period, sought by collectors for its robust 23-jewel movement and its discreet, elegant style.
