S. Sper Bijou Collection: Two Mid-Century Wooden Keepsake Chests (20cm)

Presenting a charming duo of vintage wooden jewellery boxes by the renowned maker S. Sper Bijou. These mid-20th-century keepsake chests are highly collectible for their distinctive heraldic design, combining rustic wood finishes with ornate brass detailing.

This lot offers two distinct variations of the classic S. Sper Bijou style, making it a wonderful addition for collectors of vintage vanity items or mid-century decorative arts.

The Boxes:

· Box 1: The "Battlement" Chest (Left in photos)
box features a medium-tone wood finish with a distinctive "castle battlement" design along the top edges. The lid is centered with a striking brass heraldic crest featuring a shield flanked by winged griffins and the signature "S. Sper Bijou" banner. It is accented with brass corner brackets and two prominent lion-head ring pull handles on the front.

· Box 2: The Classic Dark Wood Chest (Right in photos)
This box boasts a rich, dark mahogany-toned finish with a framed panel lid. It features a different S. Sper Bijou brass crest, showcasing an eagle and shield motif.
Includes fleur-de-lis and stars, also associated with the brand's premium line.
The front is detailed with vertical wood paneling, small brassstuds, and two matching brass lion-head ring pull handles.

Condition:
Both boxes are in vintage condition, showing expected signs of age and use that add to their antique character.

· Box 1: Structurally sound. The leather/fabric top has some patina and slight fading consistent with age. The brass elements show a warm, aged patina.
· Box 2: Structurally sound with a glossy finish. The brass hardware shows patina.
· Both: Please examine the photos carefully, particularly Image 21 (the bases). The undersides show the raw wood and the original red felt pads (Box 1), which have worn down over time, as well as the wooden feet (Box 2). These are sold as decorative vintage items.
