Vase - Ceramic

A lush Italian decorative urn in Capodimonte style, hand-modeled and hand-painted. On the bulbous belly, festive, graceful figures in high relief, framed by gleaming gilded cartouches and crowned by succulent flowers in crimson, saffron and pink. A facet-cut, pierced neck carries two colossal, curling handles that sweep gracefully upward. The pedestal is supported by portly putti with golden horns, surrounded by medallions with idyllic scenes and openwork volutes. At the bottom, written in gold: “Capodimonte Italy”, number 683.

This is not museum porcelain from the Neapolitan factory, but a decorative, earlier showpiece in the style of that famous porcelain. A flamboyant showpiece for the drawing room, hall or display cabinet.
