AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A very impressive and monumental Thai ritual water offering bowl with lid (often referred to as a Khan Nam Mon or holy water bowl). The lid features a large three-dimensional relief of the legendary Buddhist monk Somdej Toh (Luang Phor Toh) sitting in meditation (Samadhi).
Both the bowl and the rim of the lid are adorned all around with dozens of small, individually shaped tablets in the motif of the iconic Phra Somdej amulets (the so-called “King of Amulets”).
The underside also shows Buddhist symbolism and sacred Yantra-like markings.
This object was used in a temple or on a home altar to bless holy water and attract spiritual protection, luck, and prosperity.

Condition:
Good original condition with authentic signs of age.
The bowl displays a beautifully lived character with natural patina on the surface, slight discolorations and craquelure in the clay.
The gold leaf has, over time, been aesthetically partially worn away.
No major structural cracks; the lid fits well onto the heavy bowl.

Dimensions:
Height: 26 cm
Diameter: 20 cm
Weight: approx. 4.5 kg (very solid and heavy construction).

The lot will be packed with extreme care and sent by insured registered mail with track & trace. Pick-up is also possible upon consultation.
