A large and imposing Japanese baluster vase with a slender neck and a flared rim.
The vase is richly decorated with hand-painted floral panels in which peonies and chrysanthemums take center stage, alternating with geometric patterns (Asanoha / star pattern) in red and green over a characteristically crazed glaze.
The vase sits on a suitable wooden coaster.
Condition:
In reasonable to good condition for its age.
The vase shows the glaze craquelé characteristic of this type of pottery.
On the inside of the upper rim there is a visible crack / hairline (see photo circled in red).
Furthermore normal signs of aging and slight wear to the enamel.
